VB921 ignition IC's are antiquated, difficult to find and frail, while the ISL9V5036P3 IGBT's do not limit current to an acceptable degree. SymTech Labs exclusively uses the automotive-oriented Bosch BIP373. These ignition drivers limit peak current draw to 16A, and 11.5A for long dwell times to prevent damage to the ignition coil. They also feature thermal shutdown to prevent destruction from overheating.
