Factory naturally aspirated (N/A) car owners often face a compatibility dilemma should they choose to install a turbocharger. Most engine control units (ECU) in N/A vehicles simply were not designed to handle positive manifold pressure. In most cases, fuel flow at the injectors is halted, meaning boost is out of the question so long as the factory ECU is still connected.
Fuel cut defenders prevent the ECU from sensing positive manifold pressure by intercepting the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor?s signal, and modifying it accordingly. SymTech Labs FCD's utilize an active voltage clamp circuit to provide excellent fuel cut defense. The rest of the MAP sensor?s output remains untouched, so as to provide the ECU with the most accurate data while the engine is in vacuum.
These FCD's are universal, for any car with a MAP/MAF/MAS sensor that uses a +5V voltage reference (most applications). They come pre-tuned, although fine tuning is recommended. They also come complete with instructions. The FCD's are weather and chemical resistant and are housed in a 1.5?x1.5?x1? case for protection.
